Sir Otu Mike Anwana (KSC)(FCIPS)
Accomplished global procurement expert and philanthropist
He is a Knight of St. Christopher, accomplished commercial attorney, and an outstanding ambassador of Akwa Ibom people and Nigerian in diaspora. He is a passionate advocate of integrity, accountability in government, public and private procurement and supply chain processes. Until recently, he served as the Senior Procurement Manager with Qatar Railways Company, with oversight on the execution and operations of the Metro and Tram systems in Qatar. He brings these attributes to his current role as Head of Procurement Department in The North Field Expansion Project of Qatar Gas Company, the Operator of the world’s biggest single non-associated natural gas field.
Sir Otu Michael Anwana is a true pride of Akwa Ibom. Sir Mike made history as an astute procurement professional during his days in Shell International, London when he led the team that designed a world-class category management process and implemented same across Shell companies across the world.
He is a distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), London, the premier global Institution for Procurement professional. He also served as the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) branch in Qatar for five years. A long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Nigerian Bar Association, and member of the Advisory Board of Department of Applied Law, Durban University of Technology, South Africa. His writings, articles and professional contributions to the development of Procurement and Supply Chain professions is globally evident.
As the alternate Chair of the Anglican Church in Qatar, Sir Mike leads the centre and stewards the facility that is home for 85 protestant congregations. Born into the Qua Iboe church, where he was ordained an Elder many years ago, he still supports, sustains and contributes to his local church. Sir Otu Anwana takes philanthropy and education of poor kids seriously and has contributed to the educational development of the state and his community in Ikot Edong, Abak LGA through his education charity: Anwana Foundation, through which more than seven thousand books were donated to public schools in the State through the State Ministry of Education. The foundation has offered scholarships to more than forty poor students including payment of examination fees for many more.
