Obong Paul Ekpo
Obong Paul Asuquo ‘Politics’ Ekpo, served for eight years (2012 – 2020) as state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under two governors, and built the party into a formidable movement in the State.
His political sagacity, sense of loyalty, perseverance, team spirit, and forthrightness have earned him the sobriquet, “Politics.”
In 2017, the Forum of PDP Chairmen in Nigeria elected him their Chairman, making him the Chairman of Chairmen.
While in the federal public service, he was quite active in associations that promoted the good and well-being of Akwa Ibom State. He had variously served as a national member of the political committee of the Mboho Mkparawa Ibiblo; Special Adviser (political) of Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja; Special Adviser (political) of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Abuja; and Director of Social, Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja from 2002 to 2004. In the Akwa Ibom Professionals in Abuja, he was their Director of Welfare in 2004.
Before his emergence as State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2012, the Nkana, Etinan born graduate of the University of Uyo served the state as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
