Obong Bassey Albert


Banker turned politician and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State National Assembly Caucus, Distinguished Senator Obong Bassey
Albert Akpan is a two-term Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District. Born October 28, 1972, OBA as he is popularly called, was Commissioner of Finance from 2007 to 2014 under Governor Godswill Akpabio.

He joined politics from FCMB where he was General Manager overseeing the day-to-day operations of over 15 branches in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. His banking career includes times with United Bank of Africa, UBA, Continental Trust Bank and First Inland Bank.

In his first term, he was also appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas Resources. He also served as member of the Appropriations Committee. In the 9th Senate, he was appointed chairman of the Committee on Upstream Petroleum Resources, and a member of several other committees.

Akwa Ibom State Celebrates a strong voice in the ninth Senate.
