AKPARAWA MICHAEL BUSH
Michael Bush, 49, broadcaster, administrator and philanthropist, is a proud son of Uruan. He grew up in Bekumu in Cameroun, where he had his early education. His father’s insistence on him acquiring some Nigerian education brought him back home to Akwa Ibom State in 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages from the University of Uyo.
But it is in broadcasting that he has made a mark. He recently celebrated 27 years of his foray into broadcasting, first as a freelance broadcaster, and for three years a staff of the state broadcasting corporation, before launching out as the first independent broadcast producer in Akwa Ibom State in 2003, with a breakfast programme on NTA, called AM Express. This programme became an instant hit, which led to his inroad into radio productions.
Michael Bush is a talented, creative and innovative entrepreneur who such programmes as Bush House Hospital, Bush House Schools, Bush House Sports, Twenty Questions and Bush House PLC, all programmes that mark him out as master in his craft. He was to break another formidable ground becoming the first and perhaps, the only Nigerian that had been given the privilege to produce and broadcast on the network services of Radio Nigeria as an Independent Producer.
Michael Bush impacted on the lives of many young persons in the state and beyond through several mentoring platforms he created to encourage talent and skill development among young people in the state. Michael Bush is a passionate believer in the Akwa Ibom and has invested heavily in building the future of the state through his commitment to raising a crop of forward-looking young men and women.
