He was also highest goal scorer and Golden Boot winner at the 2016 CAF Champions League.

The Ikono born Mfon has had a stint in the national team, the Super Eagles, narrowly missing what would have been the second goal in the opening match against Ghana at the official opening of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. He was part of the nation’s team to the WAFU Cup of Nations and the qualifying rounds of the Championship of Africa Nations ( CHAN) and scored a goal against Yemen in an international friendly.
