HH Sir Michael Udofia, KJW
Adminstrator par excellence
Sir Micheal Udofia is one of the finest administrators to have come out of the Civil Service of Akwa Ibom State. As Deputy Governor, a position he held during the twilights of the Obong Victor Attah administration, he brought his administrative acumen to bear and assisted the Governor to administer the state superbly in the face of lean resources, as the Governor travelled through the length and breath of the Niger Delta and Nigeria to garner support for the fight against the obnoxious onshore/offshore dichotomy bill.
Sir Udofia attended the Methodist Boys High School, Oron, the nation’s premier University, the University of Ibadan where he bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he bagged a Post Graduate Diploma, after which he joined the civil service as an Administrative Officer in the then South Eastern State.
He held positions in Administration and Financial Management in South Eastern State, Cross River State and by the time he transited into Akwa Ibom State, was the Director, Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Works. He was appointed Sole Administrator of Nsit Ubium Local Government by the military administration. He rose to the position of Director General( Permanent Secretary) and served at the Ministry of Finance before retiring.
Sir Udofia further served the state as Commissioner, Economic and Development Planning Commission and Commissioner, Akwa Ibom Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, before answering the divine call to be Deputy Governor.
A Knight of John Wesley of the Methodist Church, where he was also a Lay President, Sir Udofia is also a recipient of several chieftaincy titles including that of Iberedem Akwa Ibom and Obong Nda Usung Ikot Ekpene.
Akwa Ibom Celebrates an administrator par excellence.
