Dr Dorathy Umoetok
Impacting teenagers
Dr Dorathy Umoetok is a geophysicist and was for five years, an executive director with the NNPC subsidiary, International Data Services Limited, leading explorations teams that searched for oil in the River Benue basin. While her entire professional career has been in the oil industry, her passion has always been to impact young people and point them to the right direction in life.
Since retiring for NNPC this March, Dr. Umoetok has focused her energies on teenage issues through her NGO, Teenager Support Organisation. TSO is a faith-based non-governmental organization with a distinct mission to support, inspire and empower teenagers to rise above societal and personal limitations and become all that they were created to be. It is guided by biblical principles of excellence, integrity and hard work. TSO seeks to equip teenagers with life skills to position them for global competitiveness and responsible adulthood. Since it’s inception, TSO has impacted more than 2000 teenagers through its programmes such as Teenagers Holiday FunCamp, TSO Capacity Development Programme, TSO Educational Support Programme and the Discover-A-Star programme. At least 120 teenagers are in school today, thanks to TSO.
