An officer and a gentleman

Retired Deputy Inspector – General of Police, Udom Udo Ekpoudom was born on May 24, 1953, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. He attended Queen of Apostles Seminary, Afaha-Obong, Abak for his secondary and the Holy Family College, Abak for the Higher School education. He studied Political Science at the University of Ibadan graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science. He also holds two masters degrees from the premier university; a Masters of Science degree in Strategic Studies and a Masters of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.

He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and after the one-year Cadet ASP training at the Police Staff College, Jos, he was posted to Plateau State Command in 1979 where started his Police career.

In the course of his career in the Nigeria Police Force, Udom U. Ekpoudom served in many challenging and demanding positions, amongst which was a stint as Deputy Force Education Officer. Throughout his public service career, he demonstrated uncommon discipline, diligence, hard work and dedication to duty and these qualities earned him merited elevations up to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. He retired from Service in 2010.

DIG is an alumnus of the National War College (now National Defence College), Abuja, and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police USA (IACP), and the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).
