Bishop Anselem Umoren
All his work as a Catholic priest has revolved around missionary duties to different countries in Africa and outside the continent.
Expectedly so, because as a priest of the Missionary Society of St Paul, he is to be a missionary taking the gospel to new fields.
Bishop Anselem Umoren, presently Titular Bishop of Scamba and Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Abuja has since ordination traversed mission fields in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Cameroun and South Sudan. He only took a break to serve as Bursar at the MSP Formation House, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State between 1992 and 1994).
A committed priest of the society, Bishop Umoren became Superior General of the MSP in 2008. In that position, he was head of over 250 MSP priest on missionary duties across Africa, parts of North America and Europe.
In 2012, the Ukana, Essien Udim born priest, an alumnus of the Queen of Apostles Seminary, Afaha Obong, Abak and the National Missionary Seminary of St Paul, Gwagadala, Abuja, was appointed Auxillary Bishop of Abuja by the Pope.
Bishop Umoren holds two Masters degrees, one in Development Studies and another in International Peace Studies.
