The Most Rev. Dr Christian Ekong
The silent reformer
His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr Christian Ekong was installed the 7th President of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, LCN, in January 2009. The then 47-year old Bishop Ekong who is a scion of the Late Founder of the LCN, Rev. Jonathan Udo Ekong, historically became the first Archbishop of the Church, which hitherto was running a Congregational System.
Dr Ekong who oversaw the reformation of the Church into an episcopacy with fourteen Diocesan Bishop’s was born on December 26, 1962 in Afaha Ibesikpo, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
A fervent teacher of the word, Evangelist and Theologian, Archbishop Ekong studied in the University of Uyo, where e obtained his Masters in Business Administration and earned his Doctorate Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Forte Wayne, USA.
Archbishop Ekong has travelled across the world preaching the gospel and continues to impact lives as a prolific writer, broadcaster and a trained architect who is set to deliver the Lutheran University at Obot Idim Ibesikpo, the headquarters of the Church in Akwa Ibom State as he leads the LCN into the new era. He is married to Mrs Offiong Christian Ekong and blessed with children.
