Anietie Etim Usen
Multiple Award-winning Journalist, Writer and Technocrat

One word that describes him and his exciting career in journalism is audacious. It is no surprise then that the book chronicling his journalism days is aptly titled Audacious Journalism. Anietie Etim Usen, is one of the icons of journalism profession in Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar. He is also an alumnus of University of Manchester Business School; Lagos Business School, Pan African University and a fellow of the Thomson Journalism Foundation Cardiff, United Kingdom. Others include Harvard Business School;, Oxford Business School; Wharton Executive Education Business School (University of Pennsylvania.)

Anietie Usen began his journalism career with The Punch Newspaper in 1984, from where he moved to Newswatch Magazine as one of its pioneer reporters. He had a brilliant career in the magazine and rose rapidly to become the General Editor of the magazine in 1997. He also has served as Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State; General Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation; Regional Editor (West Africa) of the London-based Africa Today Magazine as well as Senior Political Analyst/Member Editorial Board of Thisday Newspapers.

He joined the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as Deputy Director and Head, Corporate Affairs, and later served as Director, Commercial and Industrial Development of the agency.

His lucid writing style earned him the Nigerian Union of Journalists Award for Excellence in Features Writing and the UAC/UNILEVER Star Merit Award in Journalism. He is a member of several professional bodies, including, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), Fellow Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered (FNIM), Nigeria Guild of Editors, Commonwealth Journalists Association and the European Market Research Centre, EMRC. He is the author of Audacious Journalism: The Arts, Style & Depth.
